The Newest Bathroom Design Trends This Year

The bathroom – an essential part of our homes, as well as an ever-changing subject of the trendiest of design philosophies. It's no surprise that trend-following homeowners want it to be as comfortable and stylish as possible, but that’s precisely where the issue lies. What exactly is “trendy,” or even timelessly stylish, if we go the opposite route? That’s what many folks are trying to answer – or answering at this very moment, by being the trendsetters themselves!

Of course, while it’s all subjective at the end of the day, that doesn’t mean designers won’t jump on the opportunity to forecast the latest interior design movements. And with so many influencing elements coming and going, it can be hard to keep track of what is “in” and what is “out.” That’s also where we come in, as we'll be discussing the latest trends that are sure to become a mainstay in future overhauls and interior conventions.

Natural Materials

Natural materials such as wood, stone, and bamboo are expected to be popular choices, and it has a lot to do with the word “reaction.” Every trend that’s rising as of late is a reaction to the minimalist (and often dull) conventions that could only be described as “What if Apple abandoned tech in favor of home remodeling?”

Digressions aside, these materials do add quite the warm and organic feel to the bathroom, creating a more relaxing and ‘spa-like’ atmosphere. Remember that adjective for later!

Material-wise, wood can be used for vanities, flooring, and even as an accent wall, while stone can be used for flooring, shower surrounds, and countertops. On the other hand, bamboo is an eco-friendly option for bathroom accessories such as bath mats, waste baskets, and soap dishes. As you can see, there’s plenty to incorporate from nature, so the trends start to evolve into stylistic bastions at that point!

Make a Statement with Your Tiles

Basic tiles have always been the “no, duh” base choice for bathroom design, but in true 2023 fashion (if we can even say that yet), designers predict that unique and “out there” designs will be a significant trend in particular. What exactly do they envision? How about bold and vibrant patterns, geometric shapes, and textured tiles that are expected to make, well, a statement in the bathroom? And not just any old “Here I am,” but a loud and extravagant “Look at me!”

Marble and limestone go well for shower walls, backsplashes, or even as feature walls. The rich marble streaks and veining simulate movement in line with the aquatic atmosphere. Other types of stone can genuinely set your bathroom apart by creating a rich tone and a central visual element that, as cliched as it is to say, really wraps everything with a nice little bow.

Smart Technology

Innovative smart technology continues to dominate our homes and lives, and it's no surprise that it's making its way into the bathroom, despite, y’know – the issue of water and all that jazz.

Oh, but wait, waterproofing has that covered as well! In fact, smart toilets, digital showers, and automated faucets are just a few examples of how technology is transforming the bathroom experience.

In 2023, experts expect to see more smart bathroom technology that makes our lives easier and more convenient, especially when directly related to lighting, as careful light integration can make or break a bathroom’s atmosphere!

Oh, lest we forget to mention the undisputed king of smart technologies in bathrooms – the smart toilet. Smart toilets offer a variety of features, including automatic flushing, heated seats, and bidet functions. The last one, in particular, is our favorite! Some smart toilets even have built-in air purifiers, deodorizers, and UV lights to kill bacteria and eliminate odors. Truly, a master of all trades!

Spa-like Features

With the ongoing pandemic forcing people to spend more time at home, more and more homeowners want to create a spa-like atmosphere in their bathrooms. Might as well, right? Designers predict that features such as steam showers, heated floors, and soaking tubs will be in high demand more than ever.

These features create a relaxing and luxurious experience that allows homeowners to escape everyday life’s stresses, which is honestly a top priority, regardless if folks realize it or not.

So there you have it, folks - the latest and greatest bathroom interior design trends to help you take your throne room to the next level. Whether you're all about the sleek and modern minimalist movement or prefer the cozy and inviting feel of rustic wood in your bathroom, there's no shortage of creative and quirky ways to make your bathroom truly your own. So, go ahead and let your imagination run wild - after all, where else in your home can you get away with decorating with rubber duckies and seashell-themed soap dispensers? Happy designing, and don't forget to wash your hands!
